Es Firò, the most important day in Soller

Like everyyear, after the second sunday in Mai, come the celebration of the victory against the muslim invasors in 1561.

All the weekend we are proud to receive family members and friends from other parts of the island or outside the island to come to see us this important weekend of the year. The tradition is to eat snails on Sunday and every house make his own recipe, depending of the grandmother tastes.

There are a lot of activities during the weeknd that finish all on Monday.

All the center is full with small stands wich sell traditional products of Mallorca, there are dance, cultural or animal exibitions.

Music everynight at the center and around 2000 people conmemorate every year the victory, making that day, a very special and funny day.

Es Firó

At 3p.m the bells of the church go off to advert the recent danger that comes to the town, an army with 23 boats is near Port Sóller.

At 16.15 pm the muslims arrive to the beach and win the two battles in Port Sóller. Afterwards there is another battle in Es Pont de´n Varona, in the middle from the port to the town where the muslims win again and had a free entry to the town where they kill all the people they met.

At the end when they are celebrating the victory, a last battle permit the Sollerics to win them and send it again to the boats.

My recomendations:

Don´t wear a hut and wear bad clothes

If you accept the invitations of all the people to drink, you will finish very drunk at the end of the afternoon.
